Change in Metro plan
Four proposed metro stations, including Pettah and Town hall, are to be realigned. The final report on stations and their alignment is expected to be submitted to the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd on Wednesday.
“The final report on stations and their alignment is almost finalized. Four stations will be realigned, to acquire additional land for purposes like parking space and control tower,” Deputy Collector, Land Acquisition, Mohandas Pillai, said.
The final assessment has been made following a field visit to all the project sites by a team of officials including Collector P.I. Sheik Pareeth, KMRL MD Elias George and DMRC project director P. Sriram.
There will be a total of 22 stations as provided in the revised DPR submitted by DMRC in 2011.
The sharp curves, including those at Jos Junction, would be straightened, some from 90 metres to 120 metres.
Parking areas are to be provided on all important stations, especially those located in the city.
