CM asks cops to nab molester
The district police chief has been asked by the Chief Minister to take appropriate action against a man for allegedly molesting a minor girl.
The District Congress Committee had demanded that a case be registered against the accused under the Juvenile Justice Act.
Twenty-four-year-old Anu Mohan from Cherthala, a DYFI local leader, was taken into custody following the incident, which came into light when the girl surrendered before the police on October 21.The girl surrendered before the Mannar police following her parents’ complaint that their daughter had been abducted by Anu Mohan.
According to district police chief K.G.James, the girl was produced before the district magistrate on October 21, after which she was sent to Mahilamandiram. The girl did not say she was abducted. But the police registered a case on the charge of abducting a minor girl on the basis of her parents’ statement.
However, the parents were not willing to take the girl home, he added.
