Cop cadets camp from Wednesday
The district-level annual summer camp for Student Police Cadets (SPC), organised by the city police, will begin at St Alberts Higher Secondary School on Wednesday.
The camp, aimed at evolving a vigilant, law abiding and progressive society, is expected to train 300 cadets.
The city police commissioner, Mr M.R. Ajith Kumar, said 20 community police officers and 50 police personnel up to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police will help the cadets in the camp.
According to the commissioner, the camp would provide opportunity for the cadets to be part of different valuable activities that can play a major role in developing their personality.
“The camp is expected to create responsible and socially committed individuals who are willing to serve their community selflessly.
It will also have interactive sessions with eminent personalities from different fields,” he said.
The SPC had earlier organised a traffic awareness campaign, Subha Yatra, across the state in association with traffic police.
About 200 cadets had participated in the campaign to distribute 85,500 traffic awareness leaflets.
The 10-day camp will conclude on May 5.
