Criminal cops to face action: Home minister
The criminals in the police department – and there are many — who use khaki as a cover to engage in unlawful activities will be strictly dealt with, home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said.
The government would convene a high-level meeting in the capital to discuss the action against such men, he told the media here on Friday.
“Out of the 533 cops listed in the criminal roll, a majority are accused in silly cases like family fights or land disputes.
The rest have to be dealt with. We will immediately take a decision on them,” he said. The minister also said the department had already fired 13 cops who had criminal backgrounds.
On the TPC murder case, he said Vinson M. Paul would continue to head the Special Investigation Team even if he went on leave, and his absence would not affect the case.
