Cusat cuts course fee by 25 per cent
The Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) has reduced the fee for its various courses by up to 25 per cent. It had recently effected an across the board fee hike for several courses, leading to student protests.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Ramachandran Thekkedath decided on the partial rollback following a recommendation from the varsity syndicate sub-committee which talked to the students. The special fee hike for the supplementary exam would also be dropped.
The fee for the Naval Architecture, Ship Building and Polymer Science, and Rubber Technology courses has been reduced from Rs10,000 to Rs8,000. The fee of the BTech Instrumentation course has been reduced from Rs15,000 to Rs12,000.
The fee of various MTech regular courses has been reduced by 20 per cent. With this, it has now come down to Rs12,000.
The fee for regular MSc courses has been reduced by 25 per cent to Rs1500, as also of the regular MA courses except economics. The fee for MBA (full-time) has been reduced from Rs25,000 to Rs20,000. MCA (regular) course fee has been cut from Rs10,000 to Rs8,000. The fee for PG Diploma courses has been slashed from Rs18,000 to Rs3,500.
The fee for scrutiny and revaluation too has been slashed.
