Digital video boards banned on city roads
As per the bylaw, no advertisement or billboard can be erected or displayed in public places, private holdings, purampoke areas, playgrounds and buildings without mandatory clearance from the corporation secretary.
Educational institutions, places of worship, busy junctions and traffic islands are declared advertisement-free areas.
Billboards will be allowed as per the specifications given by the corporation secretary. No billboards will be allowed in areas declared as advertisement-free zones.
There will also be restrictions on the size and height of the hoardings.
No motion advertisements will be allowed on LED/digital video advertisement boards erected at junctions and along the roadside.
The bylaw also restricts erecting billboards on top of buildings that have more than five floors. No hoarding obstructing vehicle and pedestrian movement will be permitted.
The planning committee has mandated that film posters with holograms will be allowed only in areas specified by the civic body. With the enforcement of the bylaw, the city will be free of vulgar advertisements.
