Display all ‘big’ details
In an effort to stop the mushrooming of unauthorised constructions in municipal and corporation areas, the local self-government department has now made it mandatory for all commercial buildings under construction on sites measuring 300 sq.meters or more and residential buildings coming up on sites measuring 150 sq. meters to display large hoardings giving det-ails of ownership, occupa-ncy, layout, floor area, permit and parking facility.
The order issued by principal secretary, T.K. Manoj Kumar, also requires buil-ders and developers to provide their contact details, permit number, tenure of permit, name of local body that issued the permit, and width of the road leading to the construction site on the hoarding, Local bodies have been strictly instruct-ed to ensure that all build-ers comply with the new nor-ms and take immediate action if they are found to have violated any of the building laws.
“The new directive is intended to bring in more transparency and accountability in the construction and land development sectors.
Now the people will be able to make sure that construction sites have proper security and are following town planning regulations,” say corporation town planning committee sources.

Managing director of Asset Homes, K.A Muham-mad Saleem, says his company follows all building regulations and is not shy of implementing the new order.
“This directive will make the construction industry more transparent and help both property owners and the public,” he acknowledges.
