DMRC survey not final: Collector

The current survey undertaken by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the High Speed Rail corridor was not final and the district administration would avoid maximum habitation areas while the final alignment path would be drawn up, said district collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth, here, said on Saturday.
The DMRC would submit a report of the satellite survey for the project by December.

Only after that would the district administration give the nod for the 56 km- long path that would pass through the district.

The current demarcations done were just to facilitate the project study and were not final, he said at a meeting attended by officials of DMRC and the Kerala High Speed Rail Corridor Co Ltd.

The original path will come at 500 metres to 2 km area of the current demarcations. Special care will be taken to avoid houses, places of worship and habitation areas.

DMRC chief engineer G.Radhakrishnan said pillars of the elevated rail, with a width of 15 metres, would be 25 metres away from each other. Tunnels would be constructed in habitation areas to do away with land acquisition in such places.

The station at Kochi was proposed to be set up at the eastern side of the Vytilla Mobility Hub.
