Experience IT: Summer camp with a difference
It is not just dance, music or painting lessons that is offered in summer camps.
In a first of its kind, ‘Experience IT’, a vacation camp jointly organised by Infopark and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, was held here, benefiting 40 CBSE and government school students.
“We initiated this summer camp with the aim of creating an interest in IT among children and introduce to them, the world of opportunities in this field. We hope to have several similar events in Infopark that will be of benefit to students,” Gigo Joseph, CEO of Infopark said.
The two day programme that concluded on Tuesday focused on technical as well as a soft skills sessions.
The technical sessions helped students understand the concepts of IT, its application and also expose them to latest developments, including mobile technology.
“At TCS, we believe that by engaging students, we can help build tomorrow’s global professionals today. We are happy to have partnered with Infopark in this first of its kind program in Kerala," said Santhosh C Kurup, branch head, TCS Kochi.
Another camp being held in Kottayam focuses on personality development. The three-day event ‘Kalikootam’ that commenced on Wednesday, aims at developing leadership qualities, communication skills, social skills and self confidence in students, said Jacob Panickar of the Darsana Cultural centre who is the chief co-ordinator.
