HC mediation on Vilappilsala hits road block
The High Court-appointed mediation hit a road block with the Vilappilsala panchayat and Janakeeya Samithi refusing to withdraw from their demand for a permanent closure of the plant.
Sources said the mediation committee will be forced to submit a negative report before the court after the last round of mediation talks which will be held on May 31.
They said that the panchayat and the agitators are not willing to accept the efforts put in by the mediators. Close to five mediation talks on the Vilappilsala solid waste management issue, held here on Thursday, remained inconclusive.
The subcommittee constituted by the mediation centre of HC has decided to adopt time bound measures to resolve the Vilappilsala crisis. The next round of talks will be held on May 31.
HC had earlier asked the stakeholders to arrive at a consensus at the mediation centre. Following this, the mediators had formed a subcommittee to put an end to the issue.
