Heli-taxi to Sabarimala, Guruvayur

The coming Sabarimala season will be different for pilgrims coming via Kochi airport.

A helicopter flight to the pilgrimage centres in the state is becoming a reality with the Delhi-based Chipsan Aviation launching helicopter services from Saturday to Sabarimala and Guruvayur from Nedumbassery airport.

The aviation firm, run by two Keralites — Sunil Narayanan and Daisy — plans to tap the enormous potential in this sector and hopes to beef up the fleet once demand picks up.

Initially, one helicopter will be deployed at the airport. Priority will be given to Sabarimala in the first run since the firm has already set up a helipad in Perunad, some 38 km off Sabarimala.

“We thought of coming to Kerala since we are currently getting a lot of enquiries,” said Sunil Narayanan.
