IOC yet to pay victims of tanker blast
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) says it has not decided yet on the payment of compensation to victims of the Chala LPG tanker mishap, which claimed 20 lives on Aug. 27.
“The IOC has not taken any decision to pay compensation to the victims and dependents of the deceased in the LPG tanker tragedy at Chala,” said IOC in an RTI reply given to D.B. Binu, an activist in Kochi.
Strangely, the corporation has also replied that no investigation or inquiry has been carried out by the corporation.
To a query seeking a certified copy of the documents to show the details of the LPG tanker accidents happened in the state between January 2005 and now, and the amounts allotted to the victims as compensation, the corporation said such information was not being maintained by IOC.
