Jacobites hold parleys with UDF leaders
The Jacobite faction has conveyed to United Democratic Front (UDF) leaders from Ernakulam district that the government should intervene at the earliest and resolve the feud and allow its followers to have services in churches as per the court orders.
Among those who attended the meeting convened by Catholicos Baselios Thomas I at Puthencruz near here on Saturday were the UDF convenor P.P. Thankachan, minister Anoop Jacob and legislators Benny Behnan and T.U. Kuruvila and district Congress committee president V.J. Paulose.
A spokesperson for the church said that the meeting was fruitful as the leaders were apprised of the situation where even in some churches under its administration, Jacobites were unable to hold services.
He said that a meeting would be held soon with the chief minister as the faction wanted to avoid protests outside churches and was hopeful that the government would find an amicable solution to the present row over conduct of church services.
