Kanji not feasible: TDB to HC
The Travancore Devaswom Board has submitted before the Kerala high court that the court’s recent recommendation to provide no more than simple Kanji for the pilgrims in Sabarimala “is not practical.
”According to the board, the change in the food pattern would affect the flow of pilgrims to Sabarimala.
“It is not practical to change the food habits of crores of devotees visiting the hill-shrine,” TDB secretary P.R. Anitha submitted before the court in an affidavit onWednesday.
The pilgrimage may last for some days, and giving Kanji to the pilgrims for all these days is not viable, the affidavit said.
Considering the problem of pollution and the divine aura of the pilgrimage centre, the court had opined that Kanji could be provided to all the pilgrims and no other food product be distributed there.
A division bench comprising Thottathil B Radhakrishnan and Justice K Vinod Chandran passed the order. The affidavit was filed pursuant to the directive of the court.
