Kollam-Kottappuram inland stretch this year
The much awaited Kollam-Kottappuram stretch of Kerala’s National Inland Waterways would be operational this year itself, said chief minister Oommen Chandy in Kochi on Saturday.
He was inaugurating the valedictory session of the three-day international seminar on the potential of Indian logistics industry.
He also said that minor hitches in commissioning the waterways would be sorted out by minister K.Babu, soon.
The chief minister also added that it would be easy to go ahead with extending the stretch to Kovalam in the South and Manjeswaram in the North once it was commissioned.
Assuring that all viable recommendations of the seminar would be considered and implemented with priority, he said the government was committed to giving all support and assistance for developing the state’s immensely potential coastal waterways.
He said the development of the coastal waterways was one of the top priorities on the list of projects recommended by technocrat Sam Pitroda who is presently working as mentor to the state’s development.
