KSEB to halt tower work near SmartCity
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on Saturday, agreed to stop the construction of the transmission tower near SmartCity following talks held here between its officials and Tecom Investments, promoters of SmartCity, in the presence of collector Sheikh Pareeth.
KSEB also agreed that the land under dispute belonged to SmartCity. But it told Tecom that it could not shift the tower to somewhere else under the present circumstances.
The Board, however, was willing to provide alternative land measuring 1.7 acres from the four acres it has, near Kadambrayar.
But SmartCity wanted the land near the present site of its pavilion near Brahma-puram and suggested that the KSEB hand over its land there, which includes a canteen and employees’ quarters. Tecom said
it would give its final stand on the two proposals, on Monday.
Meanwhile, power minister Aryadan Muhammed said that if Tecom didn’t want power from the proposed 220 KV line, it was ready to shift the transmission tower.
