KSEB wins land battle
District collector, P.I. Sheikh Pareeth on Friday ordered the KSEB to construct a tower and draw its 220 KV line over SmartCity, which will now have to move to a different location.
Mr Pareeth said an expert committee made up of engineers from the IITs and representatives of KSEB and SmartCity would be formed to assess the loss to it and also take a decision on the alternative land for it. The committee would be expected to give its report in a fortnight, he added.
The decision followed a direction by the state government and was in accordance with the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and the Kerala Electricity Act , 2003, the collector said in a release.
The KSEB has been told not to undertake any activity on its land in Brahmapuram which is being considered for allotment to SmartCity now, till the committee arrives at a decision.
KSEB has been paying `60 lakh a month to the Powergrid Corporation although it has not been able to tap power from the Pallikkara 440 KV sub-station in the absence of a transmission line. The incomplete line has also been adding to the power crisis in the state.
