Lady doctor arrested for alleged fraud
The city police on Tuesday arrested a woman on the charges of being a fraudulent practitioner of medicine, at a private hospital in Panayap-pally, near Mattancherry.
The accused was identified as K. Rajasree, wife of one Santhosh of Nilambo-or, in Malappuram district. She had been working at Goutham hospital in Panayappally for the past one week.
According to the police, the accused was taken into custody on the basis of information provided by the hospital authorities as the ‘lady doctor’ failed to submit her certificates and other documents to prove her qualifications.
Hospital authorities said she was appointed as a doctor after verifying the copy of the documents she had produced before the interview board. As per the cop-ies, she had passed out from Medical College, Thi-ruvanathapuram, in 2005.
Hospital officials became suspicious as she started borrowing money from others and evaded questions of her background. Besides, she failed to bring her certificates even after joining the hospital.
“She promised she would present the original documents in a week. However, she did not come up with certificates and started evading the officials. We became more suspicious as she picked up a fight with her husband inside the hospital two days ago,” said Rauf, hospital’s PRO.
Authorities in a private hospital at Manjeri, where she claimed to have work-ed, said she was there for a while and left a month ago citing family problems.
