Man Held for theft of mobile tower batteries
Kalamassery police on Thursday arrested a person on the charge of stealing mobile tower batteries worth Rs 55 lakh from a company near HMT junction in 2010.
The arrested was identified as Jamal alias Thurumbu (44) of Eloor.
He was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday from North Kalamassery. According to police, Jamal along with his aides had stolen batteries from the warehouse of a company named Drive India Enterprises Solution.
“Jamal transported them in tempo vans, auto rickshaws and cycles. Jamal is also a historysheeter,” said the Kalamassery sub-inspector MB Lathif.
The police had earlier arrested his seven aides, Punnoos, Salim alias Japan Salim, Karoli Ibrahim, Bala Suresh, Gopakumar, Sujeeshkumar and Hakkim.
When police began the investigation in 2010, Jamal fled to Tamil Nadu and then moved to different places in the state and in Karnataka.
Finally, he was nabbed when he came to his hometown two days ago.
