Modern bus sheds for city soon
The city will be dotted with modern bus shelters soon. For the first of its kind in the district, the town planning committee of the city corporation has set up a hi-tech, modern bus shelter at MG Road.
The construction work was tendered by the civic body and the bus shelter has been designed and constructed by Aishwarya Advertising Industries.
The bus shelter with modern, aesthetic, commuter and environment-friendly looks and recreational facilities in front of the Maharajas College ground, was inaugurated by deputy mayor B. Bhadra on Friday.
While inaugurating the shelter, Bhadra urged commuters to upkeep the bus shelter well.
The bus shelter has comfortable seating, is well illuminated, has an FM radio, mobile charger and newspaper stand.
Aishwarya Advertising Industries will set up 11 modern bus shelters in various parts of the city, said managing director K. Vijayakumar.
“This is the fourth shelter that we have constructed. We’ll set up such uniquely designed bus shelters with music, mobile chargers and newspaper stands at the Ravipuram, Edappally and St. Albert’s College bus stops,” he said.
Sponsors will meet the monthly expenses of running the shelter. “Like other metros in the country, the city also needs beautiful, uniquely designed hi-tech bus shelters.
his is just a beginning and we will construct more modern shelters in tune with the changing character of the metro city,” he added.
