Mony ‘undecided’ on SIT appearance
Former CPM Idukki district secretary M.M. Mony, who was asked to report to the police over his controversial ‘killer’ speech, has said he is yet to decide whether to go to police or not.
However, he clarified here that he would be moving the Supreme Court, as the high court had rejected his plea against the ongoing investigation.
Mony was here on Sunday evening along with the present district CPM secretary K.K. Jayachandran, MLA, to consult former advocate-general and party sympathizer M.K. Damodaran. The duo was closeted with the lawyer for more than two hours.
After the meeting, Mony refused to divulge details but said he had not decided about a response to the summons from the Thodupuzha DySP’s office.
Sources close to Mony said he had been advised by law experts to be present before the police on Monday or else the police might issue an arrest warrant.
Another leader and former party Ernakulam district secretary, Gopi Kottamurikkal, who was recently ousted from the party, also consulted Damodaran an hour or so before Mony. Gopi is exploring the possibility of filing a complaint with the cyber cell over the spycam by a section of the partymen, which finally saw him out of the party.
