Nedumbassery sex case: Crime Branch gropes in the dark
The Crime Branch team that probes the sex racket case in which a girl from Kazhakuttam was clandestinely taken to Dubai is clueless and no arrest has been made.
Though emigration sub inspector Raju Mathew was suspended in connection with the case, the CB has not arrested him due to lack of evidence.
Earlier, they had decided to take Raju Mathew into custody on the charge of helping the members of the sex racket get away with their act.
“Yet, it is tough to prove his involvement in the case. He had only been suspended on a charge of emigration lapse,” the CB said.
Initial investigations have hinted that the gang that smuggled the woman out had presented her to almost 150 customers in the Gulf, especially Dubai and Sharjah.
The kingpin of the racket, a woman belonging to Thrissur, who is absconding, is believed to have taken the help of certain emigration officers at the Nedumbassery airport for the trafficking.
Fifteen persons have been identified in connection with the case. The cops are also set to spread the investigation to foreign countries.
As per the case, the woman from Kazhakkoottam near Thiruvananthapuram exited on a fake passport and got trapped in the sex racket in the Gulf.
She then returned to Mumbai where her forged passport was seized.
