Oil cos told to check elaborately
The district administration has ordered oil companies to conduct checks at various levels -- bottling plants, agency godowns and households, to ensure safety of gas cylinders in the wake of recent mishaps involving them.
“There is a possibility of damaged cylinders being included in loads from plants. So, besides conducting checks at plants, they should be tested before storing in godowns and also by technicians while delivering them to houses,” Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareeth said.
The agencies should also inspect whether the cylinder has damages. If so, they should be kept aside and the details entered in a separate register. Such cylinders should be sent back to companies in one week, he said.
Meanwhile, the Ernakulam General Hospital will soon have new facilities like additional OP block, new canteen, S R PIANT, new ramp, round-the-clock diagnostic facilities among other things, Mr Pareeth said.
“Health Minister V S Sivakumar will inaugurate the facilities on July 8,” he said.
