Police gets set to tackle Android risks
Android is one of the fastest-growing Smartphones and Tablet OS, but the threats and potential risks surrounding it are a matter of concern.
Mindful of the scenario, the state police is getting itself equipped to handle the risks and the situations emerging thereof.
The police force is set to get a technological boost from the Information Security Research Association (ISRA) with new technologies like Application Pen Testing to understand Android and the potential pitfalls around it.
The training sessions will be held at the Cocon International Cyber Security and Policing Conference in Thiruvananthapuram on August 3-4.
According to ISRA president Manu Zacharia, the police will be better equipped once they are able to handle Android forensics and other sophisticated technologies. “The workshop on Android is focused on cyber security, and the police can make good use of it,” he said.
The conference will also discuss innovations in cyber security, and aspects like digitalisation for better service delivery, cyber safe government, tackling the latest cyber crimes and ethical hacking.
As using technologies like cloud computing, IP spoofing and social-networking are gaining the attention of criminals, sessions will be held to monitor all these activities so as to track the suspects immediately.
Loknath Behera IPS, ADGP, National Investigation Agency, will present a paper on cyber security along with several others.
