Prashob to face court on Friday
Second officer Prashob Sugathan, first accused in the collision of Tolani Shipping company vessel, Prabhu Daya, with a fishing boat Don I, on March 1, killing five fishermen, will be produced before Ambalappuzha first class judicial magistrate court on Friday.
Prashob Sugathan, who was being treated at a hospital in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, after he fell off the deck while the ship was en route to Chennai from Sri Lanka, was arrested and brought to the Ambalappuzha police station on Thursday.
The Ambalappuzha Circle Inspector, Mr P.B. Baby, said told Deccan Chronicle: “The arrest was made in Thiruvanantha- puram when Prashob reached the capital city from Sri Lanka on Thursday morning”.
Prashob was brought to Ambalappuzha police station by 2.30pm.
Earlier, the court had sent the second accused, Mayur Virendrakumar, and the third accused and skipper of the ship, G.C. Pereira, to judicial custody for 14 days.
The court had sent Mayur to police custody to collect more evidence following Prashob's father, Mr Sugathan’s complaint to the Director General of Police, Mr Jacob Punnoose.
