Rage over hartal trending on twitter

The dawn-to-dusk hartal on Thursday, called for by the CPM in the state, was the hottest topic on twitter.

This time, the tweets were ‘hot’ with rage as people registerd their protest over Kerala’s penchant for calling hartals for each and every reason.

Keralites on twitter chose a unique hashtag for registering their protest _ #AvanteAmmedeHartal. Normally, such regional topics won’t reach the list of trending tweets.

But on Thursday #AvanteAmmedeHartal was trending in Chennai, Bangalore and Kerala. Most of the tweeples expressed their anger against the routine hartals. Jyothis Thaliath tweeted “dedicated to my non-Keralite friends who have no idea what a hartal is.

AvanteAmmedeHartal (his mother’s hartal) which is quite a derogatory usage, was first tweeted by a Kochiite who calls himself The Solid Fumes. ?"Dear hartal supporters (whosoever), just remember one thing…you are becoming hated among normal Keralites.

#AvanteAmmedeHartal”, he posted.
Close to 10 tweets were registered every minute with the hashtag with hundreds of Keralites across the globe tweeting against the anti-people hartal.

Several netizens blasted the CPM for the hartal. Many felt it was uncalled for. Aggrieved by the hartal, Sreenath M.M. posted: “Will the Congress or the League call for another hartal to protest against the attack on their offices?” Many joined hands and prayed that there wouldn’t be a bonus hartal on Friday.
The hartal also became a hot topic on Facebook.
