Second gender park at Kakkanad

Close on the heels of the foundation laid recently for a gender park in Kozhikode, a second one is all set to come up at Kakkanad here.

The social welfare minister, Dr M K Muneer, said the park was expected to come up some time next year and the government would allot Rs 10 crore for this.

He was speaking while receiving the panchayat fund for the state social welfare mission here on Monday. The third gender park would be opened at Poojappura in Thiruvananthapuram.

All the rundown buildings of the social welfare department would be rebuilt this year.

The minister also announced that a scheme would be started under the social security mission where all the destitute in the state would be provided with a monthly allowance of Rs 525.

All under the age of 18 and suffering from mysterious diseases would also be included in the scheme.
The government would extend the Nirbhaya project providing security centre for exploited women, and also start a speed track court for them.
