SIT to question Mani on Monday
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing Idukki CPM ex-secretary M.M. Mani's incriminatory disclosures at a speech in Rajakkad, will quiz him on Monday, according to sources.
A notice will be issued to Mani on Friday, directing him to be present before the SIT at Thodupuzha DySP office at 10 am.
The notice will be issued as per Section 166 of Cr PC. The decision to quiz Mani was taken at an official meeting on Thursday evening, convened by the IG, Mr K Padmakumar (Ernakulam Range), who leads the SIT.
The meeting was convened after the High Court gave the nod to the police to go ahead with the probe.
Even though, Mani was given a notice to appear before the SIT in June first week, he did not turn up, saying he would appear only after the HC direction.
Mani had declared that the party had blacklisted 13 persons and three from the list had been eliminated.
Subsequently, all these three cases were tried and accused acquitted for want of evidence.
