Squad mooted to check outbreak
Legislators in the district on Saturday urged the district medical officer (DMO) to form an emergency special squad to help curb the outbreak of communicable diseases in the backdrop of irregular summer showers.
The call was made by the MLAs through a resolution in the district development council (DDC) convened at the district collectorate.
The district health officer was asked to form a system to check the fruits and vegetables arriving here from other states.
Dominic Presentation called for immediate measures from the Kerala Water Authority to solve the water scarcity in West Kochi.
“Several pipelines pass through drainages in West Kochi. Even tiny leaks would let the drainage water into the pipes. These pipes will have to be shifted from the course of the drainages,” he said.
Hibi Eden pointed out that KWA was charging huge amounts as bill from its consumers thanks to computer problems. He directed the officials to solve the glitches soon.
The legislators also brought to the attention of KSRTC officials the diversion of several buses from their regular routes.
The DDC has also decided to form a council of legislators to solve the traffic woes in the district.
The meeting will also be attended by RTO, police officials and KSRTC officials. Flood at Aluva municipality was another issue that heated up the council meeting.
