Sreedharan will head Kochi Metro: Chandy

Putting an end to all controversies, chief minister Oommen Chandy said on Saturday that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and E. Sreedharan would be given complete charge of Kochi metro rail project.

“The union government will take a final and appropriate decision in this regard,” said the chief minister.

He also urged the media not to create unnecessary controversies about the project and the role of DMRC. The chief minister was talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function here.

While the project got the union Cabinet nod on July 3, E. Sreedharan said that the state government had given the assurance that DMRC would be given complete responsibility of the project. However, he added that a final decision is yet to be taken in this regard.

The ‘metro man’ had made it clear that he would cooperate with the project if DMRC was given the complete responsibility.
