State’s spin on Marad
In a new twist to the conspiracy theory in the Marad massacre case and the demand for a CBI probe, the state government has taken different positions at the High Court.
While opposing Kolakkadan Moosa Haji's plea for a CBI investigation, the government submitted that it had approached the Centre for a CBI probe in Marad case but been turned back on three occasions.
In an affidavit filed by the Additional Home Secretary on Kolakkadan Moosa Ha-ji’s plea, the State argued th-at the plea was liable to be dismissed, ruling out a CBI probe .
The State submitted that during 2006, 2007 and 2008 the Government had approached the Centre for the CBI probe into the controversial case. But the Centre rejected all its requests.
Earlier, the State justified its decision to transfer C M Pradeep Kumar, the head of the SIT. SIT had not been dissolved and ADGP (crimes) Vinson.
M. Paul continued to monitor the case, the State argued.
The LDF government constituted the SIT to probe the larger conspiracy behind the second Marad massacre in which 9 persons were killed.
