Tankers to supply water in Eloor
In the wake of the Kerala Water Authority’s findings that the drinking water supplied from FACT’s water treatment plant was highly contaminated and not good for drinking, the Eloor municipal council has decided to supply water in tanker lorries.
The decision was taken at a special meeting of the council on Thursday. Nearly 6,000 families in Eloor, Manjummel and Pathalam will be provided tanker lorry water.
“Tanker lorries have already started supplying the water. Meanwhile, the supply from FACT plant will continue as it can be used for other purposes,” said Lissie George, municipal chairperson.
The local body would also conduct medical camps to assess the health impacts of consuming contaminated water. The public has been asked not to use FACT water for drinking and cooking.
