Tantri one step closer to temple
The Ernakulam sessions court clearing Kandararu Mohanaru of all charges alleged against him in the sensational case, he appears all set to get back the much coveted tantri post of the Sabarimala temple.
The court during the initial stages of the trial had observed that it was advisable for him to stay away from the temple till he came clean in the case.
“I consider this order as the blessings of Lord Ayyappa. I am eager to get back to Sabarimala,” Kandararu Mohanaru told Deccan Chronicle.
Mohanaru, who is presently in Sri Lanka, added that he would be back by August 14 and would take a decision then.
Following the infamous incident, the Travancore Devaswom Board had handed over the tantric charge to Mohanaru’s father Kandararu Maheshwararu. The high court too had taken a stand against the tantri.
On Tuesday, the sessions court observed that Shobha John was waiting for an opportunity to trap the tantric who wore valuable ornaments.
The three accused, Shobha, Anil and Bachu, hatched the conspiracy and committed the crime.
Kandararu Mohanaru, complained before the police that he went to Shobha’s flat to talk about appointing a caretaker.
The tantri was in search of a caretaker for his newly constructed house at Vennala.
It was then that five youngsters forced open the door, threatened Kandararu Mohanaru with weapons and demanded Rs 30 lakh. The incident happened on July 23, 2006.
Rahul Easwar of Tazhamon family also expressed happiness in the order and added that the whole family is happy.
