Tour boats not to operate from Jetty

The State Water Transport Department and Kerala Tourism have settled the dispute over private tourist boats operating from the Ernakulam boat jetty.

In a meeting initiated by Hibi Eden, MLA, with officials of the departments concerned, it has been decided that private boats will operate from the old jetty located around 100 metres away the Ernakulam boat jetty.

Water transport department director Shaji V.Nair too said the tourism department has initiated action and is removing the newly set up ticket counter.

Earlier, the tourism department had maintained that tourist boats could operate from the jetty based on an agreement reached in 2009.
