52-yr-old ‘drugged’ in train, dies of overdose
A passenger travelling in Down Howrah-New Delhi Express was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Friday morning. The deceased, Prakash Gupta, 52, was a resident of Palam in New Delhi and was coming to the city to meet his relatives. The police suspects that the businessman fell victim to the machinations of a
gang which drug and loot train passengers. Official sources revealed that Gupta was found lying unconscious in S-8 coach of the train following its arrival at the Howrah railway station at around 7.10 am. He was rushed to the Howrah General Hospital at around 10 am but the doctors declared him brought dead there.
Questioning the safety of the passengers, one of his relatives alleged, “Prakash was drugged to death.”
According to Subhranshu Chakraborty, superintendent of the hospital, Gupta died due to overdose of drug. “The food served to him was laced with a very strong type of tranquilliser in power form which the drug-addicts use,” he said. The body was sent for post-mortem.
