Anglo-Indian takes FB photos of rapists to cops
An Anglo Indian mother of two was raped in a moving car and thrown out on the road semi-naked in the heart of the city. The shocking incident took place in early hours of February 6 when she was returning home from a discotheque of a five-star hotel on Park Street.
She filed an FIR against four persons: Sharafat Ali, Luvy Gidwani, Azhar Ali and Salman. She claimed that she even downloaded their pictures and addresses from Facebook and handed them over to the police.
However, even a week after the incident, the Park Street police has failed to arrest any one. The police also allegedly humiliated the victim when she desperately sought some action against the culprits. Writers’ Buildings sources said that an angry chief minister Mamata Banerjee blamed the television channels for “deliberately” reporting a five-day old news.
One Luvy Gidwani and his four friends whom the 37-year-old woman had met at the discotheque, offered her a lift when she was waiting for a taxi outside the hotel. It was past midnight and the resident of Parnashree Pally in Behala agreed without imagining what fate had in store for her. “Feeling uneasy, I wanted to get off but one of the accused-Sharafat Ali started assaulting me. He shoved a pistol in my mouth and threatened to shoot me if I made a noise. Then he raped me,” the victim alleged.
