Army jawan faces charges of rape, assault
In a horrifying incident, a teenaged girl has received critical injuries after she was allegedly raped and pushed off the roof of a quarter inside the Fort William by an Indian Army jawan. The traumatised 16-year-old girl is the daughter of a mechanic at the Eastern Command.
The Class 9 student, with her both legs broken and stitches in the chin, is undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Ekbalpore.
The accused, Binay Singh, 24, is absconding. The incident had taken place at around 12.30 pm on February 4, preliminary investigations has revealed.
Official sources disclosed that Binay invited the victim to his quarters.
“He raped me there and then pushed me off the second floor roof in a bid to kill me,” the girl alleged, lying on the hospital bed on Wednesday.
She further alleged that Binay had made indecent proposals to her several times in the last three months.
Deputy commissioner of police (south) Supratim Sarkar said that the girl was molested by the jawan.
