Army joins rescue operations
Indian Army jawans joined in the rescue and relief operation at the accident site at Sainthia in Birbhum on Monday morning. The team of Army personnel included seven officers and over 160 jawans, sent by the Headquarter Bengal Area of the Eastern Command of the defence ministry.
“We received the requisition for relief and rescue operations from the DRM at around 6 am. We immediately moved the men and the material from bases at Kanchrapara and Panagarh. Our doctors and paramedics are providing medical aid,” said Colonel Jai Prakash, commander of the Task Force of the Indian Army. Wing Commander Mahesh Upasani, chief public relations officer of the Eastern Command said the team comprises Army doctors, paramedics, engineers and technicians.
