Biman apologises for remark
CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose on Saturday apologised for his remark during a news conference November 9, 2011.
Three months ago, in reply to a question about the growing differences between the Congress and the Trinamul Congress, Mr Bose had gesticulated in an offensive manner and had said, “Don’t ask me such questions. Trinamul Congress or Congress... who will stay over the sari and who below it.” The reference was to which of the political parties will be the dominant partner.
On the fourth and conclusive day of the CPI(M) state conference, Mr Bose expressed his regrets over his outburst and admitted that it was prompted by his anger. During the just-concluded state conference, top CPI(M) leaders had been on an admission-of-guilt trip.
On Friday former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee admitted that his land acquisition policy was wrong which had alienated a large section of people.
