CBI is yet to register FIR on case
Even though 24 hours have passed after the Calcutta high court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to start a murder case in computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rehman’s mysterious death, the agency is yet to register any FIR. When asked on the delay, CBI spokesperson Harsh Bhal on Wednesday said, “We are yet to
get the copy of the court order. The investigating agency will proceed in the case once it receives it.” The CBI expects to receive the copy of the court order on Thursday, an agency official revealed.
If it does receive the copy on Thursday, the CBI is likely to start the fresh investigation later this week. Official sources disclosed that the special crime branch of the CBI will probe the case. Earlier, it was an SCB team headed by the then joint director of the CBI Arun Kumar that had investigated in the case. Most officers in the team belonged to CBI’s New Delhi unit.
