CM writes to PM over auction bid
Concerned over the news that some paintings of Kavigiru Rabindranath Tagore will be put up for auction in London, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to take necessary steps to bring the paintings back to India.
The paintings, which were presented to Leonard Elmhirst by the poet himself would be put up for auction on June 15.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, the chief minister said, “The news has deeply disturbed us. Gurudev’s paintings are priceless precious treasure to Indian culture.”
