CPM plans protest against Anna arrest
The CPI(M) will organise protests across Bengal on Wednesday against Anna Hazare’s arrest. Describing the arrest as undemocratic, CPI(M) state spokesperson Mohammed Salim on Tuesday said: “Our leaders and workers have been asked to take out processions in the state and organise street-corner meetings in protest against Hazare’s undemocratic arrest.”
Prominent party leaders like Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Biman Bose are also likely to attend a rally in the city. The CPI(M) spokesperson claimed that Anna’s arrest exposed Manmohan Singh-led UPA government. The CPI(M) will also target Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamul Congress for this development.
Mr Salim called upon members of the civil society and intellectuals to join their protests.
Meanwhile, the CPI(ML) supporters took out a protest rally in the city on Tuesday deploring Anna’s arrest.
