Didi invites guv for Metro rail function
Trinamul Congress chief and railway minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday held a meeting with governor M.K. Narayanan for nearly half-an-hour at the Raj Bhavan. Although Ms Banerjee parried questions on the agenda of her meeting, party insiders revealed that she had gone to invite the governor for the inauguration of the new
Metro railway project from Joka to BBD Bag on September 22 in the city. Sources also disclosed that the firebrand leader complained Mr Narayanan of the deteriorating law and order situation, CPI(M) terror across the state and the ruling party’s armed camps in the Jangalmahal.
Ms Banerjee’s visit came a day after two Trinamul Congress activists were hacked to death allegedly by the CPI(M) activists at Jamalpur in Burdwan on Tuesday.
On September 18, she will go to Jamalpur and hold a rally there in protest of the twin murder.
