Doc relatives ransack pvt hospital
Relatives of a doctor ransacked a private nursing home at B.T. Road in Belghoria following his death due to alleged negligence. The deceased doctor Ananda Talapatra was a resident of Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas. He was a homeopathy physician and used to run a chamber in Anandapuri.
At around 5.30 pm on May 11, the 55-year-old physician was admitted at the Midland nursing home with pneumonia and accumulation of cough in heart. His condition was critical and he was under treatment in the ICCU. According to his son Anindya, the doctors told him that his father’s blood pressure fluctuated on Thursday night. “My father was then administered a wrong injection which left him unconscious,” he claimed. At around 7 am on Friday, Talapatra died.
His death was due to cardiac failure, a nursing home official said refuting the allegations of negligence. However, claiming negligence, his relatives burst into anger and smashed the glass on the ground floor at around 10.30 am. The police had to rush to the hospital. “We are yet to receive any complaint from the patient’s family,” SDPO (Belghoria) Sudip Roy said.
