Don’t take cultivable land for industry: PawarPrincipals resent new UGC rule
The new regulation by the University Grants Commission for the appointment of principals will create more vacancies in city colleges. It has irked the All-Bengal Principals’ Council (ABPC) which pointed out that a principal could not remain in the post for more than two five-year terms.
At present, once appointed a principal serves till retirement.
The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) chairman, Himangshu Ghosh said, “A principal will have to appear for a written test and an interview if he wants to apply for the second term.” He pointed out that there were already 140 colleges without principals “This new rule will add to the number,” he added.
