Kidney patient duped, one arrested
The Kolkata police arrested a person from a posh nursing home in south Kolkata for duping people by making false promises of arranging kidneys for the patients. The police is yet to ascertain whether the accused is a mere fraudster or a part of a larger kidney racket.
Suman Chhetri, originally from Dimapur in Nagaland, had published an advertisement seeking kidney for herself. Responding to her advertisement, one Kaushik Pal had contacted her. She was asked to pay `25,000 as an advance. With a promise to return, once all the arrangements were made, Pal disappeared in June. Since then, Ms Chhetri had been looking for Pal.
On Tuesday when she had gone to a nursing home at Minto Park for a medical check-up, she spotted Pal with another patient. She informed the police and Pal was arrested from the spot.
