Kin, ambulance driver die; heart patient survives

In a tragic incident, five persons were killed when the ambulance in which they were taking a 65-year-old heart patient Jagabandhu Mondal to the hospital met with an accident in Murshidabad on Tuesday evening. Ironically, Mr Mondal survived.

His son Prasenjit Mondal also escaped with minor injuries in the accident in which ambulance driver Ashraf Sheikh was also killed. His other son Biswajit, however, died. The other deceased were his nephew Maharaj, brother-in-law Bablu and son-in-law Ranjan. All the victims were residents of Tentulia village in Murshidabad.
A pall of gloom descended in Tentulia village when the news of the unfortunate accident arrived. Local MLA visited them.
