Kishenji’s laptop may have been found
Nearly four months after the death of top Maoist leader Kishenji, a laptop and several other electronic gadgets were recovered along with ammunition and explosives by the joint security forces from Kushboni forest in West Midnapore district on Tuesday, leading the police and intelligence officials to suspect that the items belong to the slain rebel commander.
Tuesday’s haul took place within 11 days of the surrender of wanted female Maoist commander Suchitra Mahato, who had escaped with injuries during Kishenji’s encounter on November 24, 2011, at Burishole forest.
Acting on a tip-off, the Central Reserve Police Force along with the West Bengal police carried out the search operation with sniffer dogs early in the morning in Kushboni forest, within eight kilometres of Burishole forest.
Superintendent of police (West Midnapore) P.K. Tripathy said, “A laptop, a charger and a printer-cum-scanner, in a bag, were found hidden underground. Six tiffin bombs weighing around 20 kg, 18 detonators, two flashlights, two bags, four letters, a banner, an uniform, 33 Maoist diaries, 48 medicines, three M-seals and 16 newspaper cuttings were also recovered.” The list also includes iron pellets weighing around 30 kg, 16 live cartridges etc.
