Mamata to address rally in city Aug. 28
After addressing a rally at Lalgarh on August 9, Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will address a rally in the city on August 28 on the occasion of Trinamul Chhatra Parishad’s foundation day. The rally will be organised at the foot of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. “Just as the Chhatra Parishad had played a key role against the
Communists in the late 60s and early 70s, the Trinamul Chhatra Parishad will today play the same role for ousting the Left Front,” party leader Subrata Mukherjee said.
On the same day, the Congress’ students wing, Chhatra Parishad is also organising a foundation day programme in the city. The Chhatra Parishad event will be attended by a number of Congress leaders, including Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee and health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. “We had invited Rahul Gandhi also. Due to his other pre-occupations, he will not be able to come but he is sending two important youth leaders for our programme: Jeetendra Singh and Vijayendra Singla,” Chhatra Parishad president Saurav Chakraborty said.
