Mamata disbands CM, chairperson’s quota
To eliminate any possibility of corruption, irregularity and nepotism in distribution of KMDA flats, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday disbanded chief minister and chairperson’s quota. She also decided to eliminate the presence of any political personality in the tender committee.
These decisions were taken in the first meeting of the executive committee of the KMDA. Ms Banerjee who is also the chairperson of the KMDA, chaired the meeting in which mayor and vice-chairperson of KMDA Sovan Chatterjee was also present.
After the meeting, Mr Chatterjee said that from now on, all MIG and LIG flats constructed by the KMDA would be distributed through lottery system. “The chief minister feels that political persons should not be part of the tender committee,” Mr Chatterjee said. Urban development department secretary Debashis Sen has been made the chairperson of the tender committee.
Mr Chatterjee further informed that the charge of Garden Reach Water Works has been handed over to the KMC. So far, Kolkata Metropolitan Water and Sanitation Authority (KMWSA) was in charge of it. The KMDA would also undertake a beautification programme of the water bodies in Baishnabghata and Patuli area, the city mayor added.
